My first teacher wanted me to learn to read.
I did not want to learn to read. I wanted to play.
I stayed with my first teacher less than 2 years.

I understand that when a teenager says they want to play guitar, what they mean is that they want to PLAY GUITAR. They don’t want all the notes and the names and the blah di blah stuff.
The Rock Guitar for Teens (and Adults!) program is designed to give students maximum music, maximum rocking out, with minimal brain strain.
Remember, I left my first teacher because I didn’t want to bother with all the stuff and I just wanted to rock out. But about 6 or 7 years later I suddenly found myself wanting to go to school for music. I learned how to read when I needed to. I learned all about music theory and composing when I was ready.
I have now been playing for over 40 years and teaching for more than 20 years. And I have seen students eyes gloss over when I spent just a little too much time trying to sneak in the “really good to know” stuff when they didn’t want it. But you know what I have also seen? Students coming back to me years later finally wanting to learn what I tried to teach them years earlier. But they weren’t ready for it. I get it. I understand!
